Privacy Policy

What personal information we collect.

When visitors leave comments on the website, we collect the information shown in the comment form as well as the visitor’s ip address and user agent string as help for detection of junk messages. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called hash value) may be sent to the Gravatar service to determine if you are registered there. The Gravatar Service Privacy Policy is available at Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will appear publicly along with your comment.

If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading images where EXIF data includes GPS location data. Visitors to the site can download and retrieve all positioning information from images on the site.

If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address and website address in cookie files. This is for your convenience because you will not have to fill in this information again the next time you write a comment. These cookie files are valid for one year. If you have an account and log in to this site, we will create a temporary cookie file to check if your browser accepts cookie files. This cookie file contains no personally identifiable information and disappears when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also create multiple cookie files to save information about your login and your choices for designing the screen layout. Cookie files for login are valid for two days and cookie files for layout selection are valid for one year. If you tick “Remember me” your cookie will remain for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be deleted. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie file will be saved in your browser. This cookie file contains no personal information, but only specifies the post ID of the item you just edited. It is valid for 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may contain embedded content (such as video clips, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves just like the visitor has visited the other site. These sites may collect information about you, use cookie files, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with said embedded content, including tracking your interaction with this embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to the site in question.

How long we keep your information

If you write a comment, the comment and its metadata will be saved without a time limit. The reason for this is that we need to be able to find and approve follow-up comments automatically and not queue them for review. For users who register on your website (if available), we also save the personal data they specify in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception that they cannot change their user name). The site’s administrators can also view and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have written any comments on this site, you may request an export file with the personal information we hold about you, including any information you have provided us. You can also request that we remove all personal data we have about you. This does not include any information that we are required to save for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Comments from visitors may be checked via an automated spam detection service.
